Anna Di Mauro, a sicilian visual artist, was born on the 20th July 1968 in Catania. She was a guest at exhibitions and art reviews showing herself to the public eye and the art crtitics, who appreciated her unique style.
Many art critics wrote about her as, among the other, Fortunato Orazio Signorello (collaborator of the Italian Art Encyclopedia – General Catalogue of artists from 19th century to present days and of other prestigious art reviews) and Giuseppe Candrilli.
The most fascinating part of her work is how she keeps her balance between the transcription of reality, the sicilian style and her ability to get seducted by the infinite possibility of the reality depiction, on which she tries to imprint a strong emotionality.
Her works are characterized by an overall construction, keeping commonly the same structure and harmony. Anna Di Mauro’s work, characterized by a brand new definition of the light and by a specific pictorial construct, highlights how she maturated a totally independent personal artistic expression over the years.
For the critics Anna Di Mauro, a self-taught artist, filters the reality into a personal description that releases the essence, donating to it a spotless beauty and musicality without sound distortions.
Member of the Frederician Academy based in Catania, she took part in many contemporary art reviews. Among the most important are mentioned the Contemporary Art Triennale, hosted by “Le Ciminiere di Catania”, the visual art review “Experimentation and Languages” hosted by the Frederician Academy of Catania edited by Fortunato Orazio Signorello, during the seventh edition of “La Nuit européenne des musées”, an European event (hosted by the French Culture and Communications Ministry with the sponsorship of Council of Europe and UNESCO) that involved more than 3.200 museum of 40 different European countries, the 9th Contemporary Art Exhibition “Art Today” (sponsorship by Kritios Edizioni and hosted by the Emilio Greco Museum of Catania) and the “Virtual Confined Art Event” (promoted by the Frederician Academy of Catania during the 16th Contemporary Day and promoted, in turn, by the Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums, with the support of Direzione Generale Creatività Contemporanea of the MIBAC in collaboration with Ministry of Foreign Affairs, pointing out the works of 41 valid artists, thanks to a digital project that spread a video on the main social media channels).
She was reported by regional and national newspapers. Thanks to her artistic work made in 2017 she was listed in to the book of “Artisti Internazionali nell’arte Contemporanea” promoted by the Frederician Academy, thanks to the reporting of the art critic Fortunato Orazio Signorello. Besides a short biography, in the book in which, among other things, are mentioned Remo Brindisi, Bruno Cassinari, Ugo Nespolo, Mino Maccari and other historized sicilian artists, was published the photo of her work “Giù la Maschera. Bisogno di luce e verità”, oil on canvas created in 2015.
